Do I need a Utah fishing license?

Yes. Anyone 12 and older needs a Utah fishing license. You can buy a 1-day, 3-day, 7-day, or annual license online from Utah DWR — most clients grab a short-term one the morning of the trip.

What's included in a guided trip?

Your guide, all rods, reels, flies, leaders, and tippet. Waders and boots are available in standard sizes. Bring a Utah fishing license, polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate layers, and a water bottle.

Do I need fly fishing experience?

No. We run trips for first-timers all the time. Tell us your experience level when booking — we'll dial the day to match. Couples and families with mixed experience levels are no problem.

When is the best time to fish the Provo?

The Middle Provo fishes year-round thanks to consistent tailwater flows. Peak hatches run April through October, with fall (September–November) being a favorite for big browns. Winter midge fishing is underrated and the rivers are quiet.

Most trips start in Heber City, ten minutes from the Middle Provo. Park City is twenty minutes away, Salt Lake about an hour. We'll send exact meeting details after booking.

What if the weather is bad?

Light rain or snow doesn't usually cancel a trip — fish still eat. If conditions are genuinely unsafe (lightning, blown-out water, dangerous flows) we'll reschedule at no charge or refund in full.

Fishing was a little bit slower for the first 30 minutes or so but picked up. Cream midges size 20-24 were the ticket this morning. Did very well with a total of 10 in the net in the first hour. Poison Tung Midges in size 26 were also working well after the morning hours.
